  • sec 01-04: The “ad” begins with an info statement saying “What you are about to see is real. footage courtesy of the Bully Project.” Therefore, we must assume the ad will have something to do with bullying.
  •  sec 05-14: The scene opens up with a crowded bus full of kids. The camera is pointing to the back of their heads giving you a situational imagery as if you were there on the bus. A young boy seems to be hanging off the side of a seat where another boy is sitting. Is the boy welcomed on that seat? Is he forcing his way on the seat?
  • A second later the boy hanging off the seat is abruptly pushing to the ground falling in the aisle like a sack of potatoes. It is apparent now that the kid in the brown shirt is not welcomed in that seat.
  • As the boy in the brown shirt attempts to get up and back in the seat a young girl in front of them turns around as shows all signs of anger She then proceeds to shout and stare down the boy in brown as the other kid shows signs of struggling to keep this other kid off his seat.
  • All of a sudden a young boy behind the two confrontational boys throws a punch to the kid in the browns back. The boy in brown turns around with his mouth wide open in complete shock. The kid who hit him takes his left hand and points to a seat expressing to sit down. The fast motion of his hand shows some form of anger or anxiousness. He must be annoyed at the kid in the brown The boy in the brown then gets up frustrated and walks to a different seat away from the girl and two guys.
  • sec 15-16: A blonde girl seems to be staring at something towards the back of the bus. Her mouth is wide open and she has an emotionless face possibly from being shocked or maybe even concerned. Where she is looking seems to be toward the direction of the boy in brown and the kid who hit him.
  • sec 16-18: Another young boy touches the kid in brown, but this time reaches around from the seat behind and proceeds to grasp the boy in browns neck. He shakes it back and forth in a joking motion.
  • sec 19-25: A young boy who is looking towards the back of the bus peaks out only a tiny bit. He seems to be hiding but also interested, why is this? Who is he afraid of? does he not want to be bullied.
  • Another boy who looks to be at the very back of the bus is looking forward while standing. He slowly begins to move his head downwards and his facial expressions turns to looking upset. He looks at the ground as if he is ashamed. Is he ashamed he isn’t helping?
  • The next shot captures a group of kids just staring off into the distance, with complete emotionless expressions as if nothing just happened.
  • sec 26-31: The screen turns to black for a split second until a slogan appears that reads “Teach your kids how to be more than a bystander. Visit stopbullying.gov” There is no reason to why none of the other kids on the bus could have done something to help the poor kid in the brown. Physical and emotional abuse are not okay. You need to stand up to the bully’s not let them win.

Visual Analysis

0:01-0.04- The scene begins with showing a mother walking with her child in a stroller.  As she is strolling around she encounters a potential setback which was a large flight of stairs.  At the 0:04 mark you see a man come into the picture appearing to be helping the woman get the stroller up the stairs.

0:05-0:09- The story transitions to a stuffed plush toy being found by a man in what seems to be a mall like setting.  You then see a woman and what seems to be the same plush toy but in a different setting looking around to see if someone dropped it.  Both the man and woman with the toy end up handing the toy off to a child.  We don’t know who’s the toy was originally.

0:10-0:14- The ad resumes the initial scenario  and of the others.  It seems like this woman receives help from others regularly and this wasn’t something out of the ordinary for her.  This might portray her taking this trip often if not everyday.  The scenarios all relate by people receiving gifts or kind gestures from others.

0:15-0:19- At 0:15 the ad shifts focus and now we see the outcome of the children after receiving the plush toy, and the woman receiving help getting to the top of the staircase.  The diversity of each scenario is to represent people of all ages, gender and race need help. Whether you know the person or not it encourages you to go out and help others.

0:20-0:25-  A statistic that appears is shown to spark concern.  The statistic read “1 in 5 kids struggle with hunger”.  This is a call to action to inform others of problems people face everyday and a big one which is that some people don’t eat everyday.

0:26-0:30-  The visuals appear to conclude but not before the final message pops up.  The message reads “Help end childhood hunger near you” which is brought to you by ‘Feeding America’.  It also gives a website to donate or find out more information on other ways how you can help.  The PSA redirects you to FeedingAmerica.org.

0:01-0:03 –

The Ad opens with a man who is devastated inside of an ambulance. He has tears coming from his eyes and he has a bloody bandage on his forehead. There are two nurses a male and a female who are assisting another person on a stretcher. The camera then zooms in on his heart rate monitor and it is decreasing.

0:04-0:10-

The devastated man has this guilty look on his face. He is rubbing his head and sobbing as if he just killed someone. The camera then zooms in on the man on the stretcher as one of the nurses put an oxygen mask on his injured face. The man on the stretcher looks to be in a very bad condition. One of the nurses uses a defibrillator on the wounded man. The other weeping man is still ranting off, and the woman nurse looks at the man with such a disturbed look on her face.

0:11-0:15-

Both of the nurses then look at eachother then back at the deviated man with a smirk. They have a look on their face which is a sign of relief as if what the man said was good news. The lady nurse then lifts the defibrillator.

0:16-23-

The man on the stretcher arises from the mat and looks around the room. The camera then zooms in on the injured man on the stretcher and he has a brace around his neck with blood all over. When he rises he looks as if he was a vampire awakening from the inside of a coffin. He then looks at the nurses and the man who is devastated as if he is perfectly fine and ready to go immediately. The devastated man then looks amazed beyond belief as if he had just seen a ghost. His face goes from completely crying and sobbing to dazed and confused.

0:24-31-

The man on the stretcher then falls back down onto the stretcher. The male nurse then gives the devastated man a sarcastic look and puts the gas mask onto the patient. The lady nurse puts the defibrillator back onto the mans chest and continues to operate. The man who was calmed down by the surprise of the man on the stretcher then immediately starts crying again. He puts his head down in disappointment. Then a quote comes on the screen which states “Buzzed driving is drunk driving” .

The Ad is called “Let’s Take Action” https://youtu.be/OYCHpZ13l-E

Moving Image – nyctime7

0:00-0:03 The ad begins with a young man and woman, walking away from a building at night. There is a neon sign “bar” on the building, meaning they were at a bar. Both of them are dressed nicely, signifying lower-medium class.  They are both stumbling slightly, the woman more so than the man. She’s holding on to him as they walk, perhaps signifying that they’re a couple, or she needs his support to stay upright. They’re both smiling as if they enjoyed themselves. There is a car parked in the middle of the street. The car looks about average, nothing special, yet not a clunker. Its lights aren’t on, which means it’s most likely off. They two walk slowly around the back of the car and towards the driver’s door.

0:04-0:05 The two stop walking as the camera zooms in on their faces. The man is positioned in front of the rear driver’s side door, which means he is probably the driver of the vehicle. They turn towards each other, still smiling and laughing.

0:06-0:07 The woman grabs onto the man’s jacket, as if they’re getting ready to kiss each other goodnight. A car is seen slowly driving by in the background, along with people leaving and entering the bar.

0:08 The two suddenly look at the camera. The woman is taken out of view, and the camera closes in on the man’s face. His facial expression changes from happiness to a more serious one, as shown by his mouth starting to close.

0:09 The man’s sunglasses suddenly disappear from his face. He fully closes his mouth and looks towards the woman, showing a puzzled expression. While this is happening, cars and people are quickly blurring in and out of view. Most likely showing that time is quickly elapsing.

0:10-0:11 Both the man and woman are shown once again. She suddenly lets go of him, with a similar confused look. The man looks down and away from the woman, towards his right arm. She also looks towards his arm, with a more puzzled look.

0:12 The camera orients to the man’s wrist, showing a presumably expensive watch. Like his sunglasses, the watch disappears suddenly. He quickly bends his wrist towards him, as if to show he’s both shocked and confused.

0:13 As the view positions back to the man’s face, he looks into the camera with an opened mouth. With widened eyes, he seems to be breathing heavily. His expression has evolved from one of confusion, to that of fear.

0:14-0:18 The man and woman are shown in front of the car, looking downward.  The camera zooms in on the button of a jacket. The stitching of the button unravels, and the button begins to fall. The button falls to the concrete, besides the man. The view of his dress pants and shoes, quickly changes to him wearing cheap sandals and ripped jeans.

0:19-0:21 The man’s dress jacket has changed to a worn white tank top. He looks at the woman with raised eyebrows, with a look of shame or embarrassment. The space between them has grown, showing she may not be as interested in him as before. She looks back with lowered eyebrows with a look of disgust. A zoomed in look, shows more of that same disgust and confusion on the woman’s face, through frantic eyebrow movements. She looks around and takes a hesitant step back, suddenly disappearing herself.

0:22-0:25 Left alone and without his nice clothing, the man looks all around, still confused. The car he was standing in front of disappears, along with the crowds of people and car traffic. He looks at the camera with a look of defeat. The lights in the bar all turn off, as the party is most likely over. One last time, a zoomed in shot of the man shows his confusion and shock.

0:26-0:31 The word “Buzzed” appears in blue, “Busted” in red, and “Broke” in blue. Each word flashed the same way police car lights flash in red and blue. The text “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving” comes on screen for the remainder of the video.

Moving Image -Baritonemusicman

0:00-0:06   As the ad begins the screen fades from black there are two hands on either end of the screen raised together facing one another holding glasses of wine. The video begins to play but as the hands begin to move their actually moving in slow motion. Which is done purposely to show every detail of what is occurring as theses glasses come closer to one another. All that is in the picture are the two hands giving the focus to just the background being white so all attention stays on what is happening in front of the viewer. It is not specified as to whether or not the hands belong to a male or female which I think was done purposely because that is not what is important in regard to the message the ad is portraying.

0:07-0:13 As the ad continues the glasses are raised towards one another as if to make a toast and clink their glasses. The hands then begin to move across the screen towards the other in an attempt to make contact. As soon as the glasses make impact with one another they completely shatter in the hands of the two individuals. As the glasses being to break in front of the us, the viewer we can see the glass begins to shatter first then as it continues to break you see the wine toss-up and begin to fall creating a huge mess. The hands then begin to separate as the glass and wine is still falling upon them all that’s left is the bottom handle of the wine glass.

0:14-0:22 Now the two hands holding the wine have gone away but now are returning with two mugs of beer attempting to raise their glasses together once again. As the video continues the hands brought into screen in the same fashion from either end of the screens moving towards each other in slow motion. This time as the mugs are brought into view you can clearly see a reference to college life and college drinking. The mugs clearly have a logo of a college “U STATE” written across both mugs. The mugs of beer make contact with one another once again they shatter. As the damage is done in slow motion you can see the shards of glass going in different directions and the beer following. The only thing left as the hands separate are the handles to the mugs leaving just as much of a mess if not more then the glasses of wine from the previous shot.

0:23-0:31 The hands holding the mugs of beer have left the frame now having two hands replaced them moving in from either end of the screen one again. They are now holding a glass cup of some sort of liquor and ice. The glasses again are moved towards one another in slow motion but just before the two glasses collide like they had once done before a hand comes up from the bottom right of the screen and interject the collision of the cups saving the two from breaking just as the glasses of wine or mugs of beer. Just as the remnants of the glass settle in the glass cup a sign reads “FRIENDS DON’T LET FRIENDS DRIVE DRUNK” and across the bottom reads “Ad Council U.S. Department of Transportation. The video then fades to a black screen.

This video was able to speak volumes even without the ability to hear what was being said. Each of the different shots were able to address a certain demographic in my opinion. When I think of wine what comes to mind is someone who is older or mature. When the ad used the reference of the beer mugs with the college logo that was able to portray the young adult or teen. And having them both have the same outcome of destruction shows that no matter the age or the type of alcohol it can be dangerous causing horrific events to occur. Its known amongst young adults that the common quote is “Oh, that will never happen to me” but this ad shows it actually can and will if your not careful. Its advises everyone to take the right precautions when drinking and showing like in the last frame stopping that final glass could be the difference of saving a friend from a horrible accident.

“Now”

0:01
The ad starts and a man and two kids fades-in. They are sitting on a table and the man is telling something to the kids with his fingers pointing towards the food lying on the table. The man is wearing a white T-shirt and a black Jacket and it appears to be gym clothes also he has something hanging around his neck. Probably he is wearing a whistle around his neck. That could mean he is a school coach and may be asking the two young kids to finish their food. The coach looks like he is in his mid 30’s and the two kids appears to be about 10-12years old. They are sitting on a table and behind them there is another man and a woman also in their 30’s, sitting on another table discussing something. It appears as if they are all sitting in a restaurant.

0:02
The coach turns to his right and starts talking. It is possible that someone is sitting next to him. He has a very comforting smile on his face. Maybe he is talking to a close-friend or relative.

0:04-0:05
Another kid approximately of same age as the other kids comes into the frame. The coach is talking to that other kid rather teasing him in a friendly way. The kid has a wide smile on his face and is nodding his head as the coach is patting the kids head and talking to him. Their gestures appears to be really friendly and looks like they have known each other for a long time. They could be father and son.

0:05-0:06
All of sudden the kids expression changes. His smile is gone. He turns around with fear on his face and looks at the women sitting on the table behind them. The women looks back at the kid and when she realizes the kid is looking at her, she feels embarrassed.

0:07-0:08
The coach comes in the frame again. He is grinding his teeth. It appears he is disappointed of something. He looks down with displeasure on his face, he sighs and then tries to eat his food. It appears as if he is trying to avoid some situation.

0:09-0:12
The camera brings the coach and also the two other kids sitting next to him into the frame. All of a sudden they turn around to the man and women sitting on the table behind them. The man has grabbed the women’s hand. He is talking to the women with his fingers pointing towards her. It appears as if they are arguing over something and he is shouting at her. The coach looks away thinking what to do. He is grinding his teeth again.

0:12
A question pops up with a black background. When do you get involved?

0:14-0:21
The coach is in the frame again. He is thinking something. The man and the women comes in the frame. The man pulls her by snatching her hair and her shirt. The coach is still thinking something. Another question pops up with a black background. The question says “Now? “. The man starts hitting that women. The coach is still thinking and again the question pops up “Now?”.

0:22-0:26
The camera focuses on the kid who was smiling in the beginning. He is full of fear at the moment. He is uncomfortable, scared, disgusted, helpless. He is sympathetic towards that women. He is sad and uneasy and it looks like he is about to cry. It feels as if he wants to do something to stop whatever is going on. He looks at his coach hoping he would do something to stop his. He just wants someone to stop this. Then a sentence pops up with the kid in the background. The sentence says “The best time to get involved is Now.”

0:28-0:32
Another sentence comes up “Teach boys that violence against women is wrong.” The scared boy is still in the background.

0:33-0:37
Again the black background pops up with words fading in -“Teach Early. Call 800-End-Abuse.”

The End

Conclusion:
The advertisement conveys a really strong message on Violence against women. It shows the importance of teaching your kids the difference between the right and the wrong. Every adult is responsible for stopping this kind of behavior. They should stand against it and teach their kids the same. Violence against women is wrong. Violence against anyone is wrong. Stand against the abuse and end it.

Moving Image-yeezygod

0:00-0:01- The setting of the ad starts off in the morning with a professional businessman getting ready to go to work while wearing a dress shirt and tie with his hair combed over. He could potentially be looking out the window or at something else.

0:01-0:02 – The camera is now shifted to over the shoulder and we see a lady, potentially the wife of the man. She is drinking a glass of orange juice while reading the newspaper. By these facts, we can now conclude that the time and setting takes place in the morning at the presumed couple’s house. The man is finishing up his breakfast and washing his own dish. The man shows gentleman-like characteristics. The couple seems to be a middle class family in a nice house.

0:02-0:04- The lady seems proud that her husband is washing his own dish and knows that he takes full responsibility of cleaning up after himself.

0:05-0:08- While walking towards his car, the man notices his neighbor struggling with a water hose. The water hose seems to be knotted and the neighbor, who is an old man, is struggling trying to untie it. The man waves to the old man to try to get his attention.  The man untangles the water hose and starts walking towards the bushes to water them as a favor to the old man. The old man seems to be in 60s and appears to be of Asian ethnicity.

0:09-0:13- The setting has now changed to a work environment. We see the coffee, alluding to the fact that he may be on his break at work. He then walks over to his co-workers and pours them cups of coffee. The girl on the right is enjoying her coffee. The man on the left is amazed of how good the coffee tastes and gives him a compliment through hand gestures.

0:14-0:15- The man has now gotten out of work and is grocery shopping, perhaps for dinner. The man let the older guy cut in from him. It was nice gesture of him letting the old guy cut front of him. It is starting to get late and we can tell it is getting colder because of the jacket he is wearing.

0:16-0:17-The man is driving back home after a long a day and he looks down at something. He may have dropped something or his phone may be ringing or he got a text.  The time of the day is 6:40pm which confirms that he did get off work. He is trying to see who texted him, which could be his wife.

0:18-The man is smiling. He presumably received a text from his wife saying she is going to cook something delicious. Another thing that might have been sent to the man is that his wife found that that she is pregnant.

0:19- The man approaches the traffic light and he is texting while driving. There is another car next to him and a man is driving the car. There is an African American lady sitting down on a bench waiting for the bus. There are also two girls crossing the street.

0:20- The driver next to the man looks over and he looks aghast at what he is witnessing.

0:21-0:22- The driver next to him gives him a gesture and is disappointed that people he is texting and driving. The man looks over to the driver next to him who is giving the gesture.

0:22-24-The man is confused as to why he is being looked at a certain way. He is wondering what he did to make the people stare at him.

0:25-0:27- The African American lady just stares at him and does not look happy because of what he is doing while driving. She looks very discontented and keeps a stern face.

0:28-0:31-The man finally understands what he is doing wrong. He realizes that they are looking at him like that because he was texting and driving. Texting while driving is very dangerous and is not the smartest thing to do because it causes accidents. He also understands now that he does not truly help society because he was texting when he was not supposed to.

0:01

When the Ad begins the audience is shown a young man getting a haircut by a woman in the middle of a kitchen in the day time. The small kitchen does not contain updated appliances as seen by the small white fridge and the beige oven and is nicely cleaned except for the table in the foreground with two mirrors, a comb, a spray bottle, and a rag or towel. The young man  is wearing a clean t-shirt and jeans with a bored expression on his face. His boredom may be due to getting his haircut by the woman being a frequent occurrence. He is sitting on a chair with a towel partially covering his upper torso while the woman, who is possibly his mother or of close relation to him, is focusing on the back of his hair with the shaver in her right hand. She also is in clean casual clothes.

0:02-0:06

The woman uses the shaver, but immediately following the cut her eyes widen and an openmouthed frown appears on her face. Her body also backs up slightly from the surprise of her actions. This signifies a mishap in the haircut where she must have messed up and either cut to much or shaved the area completely.

0:07-0:08

The woman, who is confirmed to be his mother after the young man says (based on the one syllable word he says), leans closer to study the area she shaved. The son, noticing something went wrong, shifts his eyes upward and asks, “Mom?” and the text, “(A) Try to fix it,” appears on the screen.

0:09-0:10

The camera moves to the back of his head where the spot the mom cut is now shown to the audience. The young man is holding a mirror  with his left hand to see his haircut. What is revealed is all but a single patch in the middle of the square spot is shaved. But how can he see the spot if we the audience only see his face in the mirror he is holding?

0:11-0:12

The mother is seen to be holding a mirror behind her son’s head to help him see the spot. She is holding her hand up in a placating manner probably saying something similar to “It’s not too bad” or “I can fix this” like at 8 seconds where the text said, “Try to fix it.”

0:13-0:14

The mom is the only one is this close up camera shot with the text on the screen saying, “(B) Work with what you’ve got.” The mother probably shaved more of the hair to hide the mistake she made. The camera angle is meant for the unveiling of the haircut to be more surprising.

0:15-0:17

The mother nods her head with a satisfied looked on her face as the camera shifts to the side of the son’s head. The haircut resembles a lizard lying on the middle of his head with the feet of the lizard on the side and the tail down the back of his head.

0:18-0:20

The scene moves to the family room of the house. The father and little brother of the young man sit with their backs to the camera on a teal couch. The young man has a smile on his face while looking at his family and another text is seen at the bottom of the screen, “(C) Show solidarity.” Did they all get the lizard haircut? It doesn’t look like it because the son’s hair in this scene is not in the odd lizard cut and the brother and father do not have the lizard cut which would be obvious since their back is to the camera. This scene also may be on a different day because of the son’s lack of lizard. So what haircut did they all get that makes them the same and did the mom make the same mistake?

0:21-0:22

As the mom entered the camera, the whole family turns their head and a bald patch is revealed on the side of their head similar to the son’s bald patch. The brother and father shaved their head similar to his in order to keep him from feeling like the odd one out, reminding me of when families shave their head if one of the family members has cancer and goes through chemotherapy.

0:23-0:25

The final scene contains the mother finishing up the haircut, probably on a different day again, as he holds the mirror to see the final cut. Practice makes perfect, right? This time the mom did not make mistakes and shaved his hair well based on the smiles on both of their faces. The final text on the screen says, “You don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent,” and the logo for AdoptUSKids.

0:26-0:31

The mother hugs her adopted son as the ad finishes.

At the end, we learn that the ad is promoting adoption of children and based on the final quote, “You don’t have to be perfect to be a parent,” is hoping to encourage parents who may be afraid they won’t be good parents and role models to their child. The fear of doing something wrong is normal, but because of the mother’s haircut disasters, something fun always came out of them. First the lizard hair, then the whole family supporting the son by having their own bald spots shaved on their heads. The ad wants the public to see that adoption can lead to fun times and days full of love and happiness.

Moving Image: Juniorgirlblog

0:00-0:004- The ad begins in the mall with the camera angle focusing on a kid teddy bear lying on the floor.  Then the angle shifts so I can see the view surrounding the bear ; which shows that people keep walking pass the bear and not paying it attention. It seems like it’s a young child who is between the ages of three and five has lost their bear when their parents were rushing to get somewhere.

0:07- The camera focuses a older man who came towards the teddy bear and picked it up. While he is picking it up; the camera then changes to a wider view where he is looking around suspiciously to see if there’s any kids around who he can ask if it’s their teddy bear.

0:16- A older lady is entering the mall, but the camera focus on her with the baby stroller and her struggling to get pass the first step.

0:15-0:20- The camera comes far out to show that a younger man came over to the lady with the stroller to help her get upstairs. They each are holding one end of the stroller so its equal weight.

0:21-0:23- The camera switches positions quickly with the old men and two young girls who is trying to find a parent who has a child that lost their bear. The camera also zooms in to see their face expression as they look around confused.

0:24-0:27-The camera switched back to the old men while he walks up to a mother and her young child. The camera zoom in on the family while the old man is talking to the family. It seem like he is trying to figure out if its the little girl teddy bear. The little girl nodded her head yes and took the bear from the old men. The camera shifted from the family to just focus on the little girl while she hug the bear.

0:28-0:33 – The camera focus on a baby bottle that was rolling around on the floor while everyone was looking.  A young teen founded a bottle, that a man with a baby stroller had dropped.

0:34- Camera switches back to the lady with the stroller. This time it’s three men that’s her with the stroller .Then the camera zoom outs to focus on them helping the lady.

0:35-0:40- The camera focus on the girl who give the bottle to the guy who dropped the baby bottle.  Then the camera zoom in on the young girl and the guy smiling at each other saying thank you.

0:41-0:45- The camera zoomed in on the parents as they smile ,kneeling down smiling to their kids.
