Posting Assignments to the Blog
All assignments will be posted on the blog. All work will be submitted on the blog. No paper will be exchanged.
- The Assignments Menu at the top of the blog is a good place to look for links to every assignment and deadline.
- Portfolio Assignments are those that will be included in your end-of-semester Portfolio, which accounts for 75% of your semester grade. They are identified by a prefix starting with P, beginning with P01. Portfolio assignments can be rewritten as often as you like for grade improvement, until the Portfolio deadline.
- Non-portfolio assignments are required but do not become part of your portfolio. Together with Exercises and Daily Notes, they account for 25% of your semester grade. They may be rewritten once for grade improvement. They are identified by a prefix starting with A, beginning with A01.
- Exercises are usually begun in class, often completed in class, and are not rewritten. If they’re numbered, the numbers start with E, beginning with E01.
- Class Notes are taken every day during class and are recorded as Replies to the daily Agenda page. They are awarded 1, 2, or 3 points depending on their degree of completeness and efficacy. They are the only way to earn credit for Class Participation.
Deadlines and Penalties
MIDNIGHT SUN and MIDNIGHT TUE.
Unless otherwise indicated in the official assignment, the deadline for “weekend assignments” is Sunday just before midnight. The deadline for “midweek assignments” is Tuesday just before midnight.
Weekend Assignments:
For example, if an assignment is due before class MON JAN 22,
the deadline for publishing your draft is 11:59PM SUN JAN 21.
Midweek Assignments:
For example, if an assignment is due before class WED JAN 24,
the deadline for publishing your draft is 11:59PM TUE JAN 23.
Penalties for late posting are as follows:
- Early posts are eligible for early feedback before the first draft is graded.
- On-time posts published before midnight on the due date: Full Credit
- 0-24. Posts published within 24 hours of the deadline: 10% Grade Penalty
- 24-48. Posts published 24-48 hours late: 20% Grade Penalty
- 48+. Posts published more than 48 hours late: 50% Grade Penalty. Posts published after 48 hours can’t pass, but they can avoid the 0/100 grade that can devastate a semester’s work.
