Enough About You- Ugandanknuckles

(This is based on an older form of my definition argument paper that has since been rewritten for the most part)

In the modern era, mantras are popular because of how easy they are, and how promising the results are. Giovanni Dienstmann, a meditation teacher and coach, helps us to better understand the thought process behind repeating a word or phrase. Dienstmann claims, “Sound is vibration. And all the cells in our bodies are vibrating. Everything in the universe is vibrating, and each has its own rhythm. Our thoughts and feelings are, indeed, vibrations in your body and your consciousness.” Further examination of Dienstmann’s claims shows that he believes everything is vibrating in its own way, and that by positioning ourselves in a certain way, or by saying certain words in a certain pattern, we can change how our whole body resonates and vibrates with the universe around us. Dienstmann goes on further to claim that it also effects our hormones, thinking, behavior, and our psychological well-being. Anyone reading that will realize that it’s easy and effective (based on what he says) and be on board right away.

Enough About You- amongothers13

Money seems to have a big role in our society, for our expenses and adventures are limited without a sufficient amount. Money is valuable in different ways, even when we don’t see it physically. In today’s society we must have faith in the government and in the banking system that our money is being handled carefully; if not, then we would have to hide all of our money under our mattresses or around our houses. I have no clue what happens in the banks, or how they take care of our money. I always thought the concept of money was simple; we either have it or we don’t—that’s it. However, being introduced to this assignment, the Yap Fei, US gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts now seem similar. It all comes down to this: we don’t actually see our money being transferred. When we get paid, we aren’t handed cash, we don’t receive a physical check, the money’s all directly transferred to our bank accounts, and we just have to trust that we will get more money.

Enough About You – picklerick

Original Paragraph
Money seems to have a big role in our society; you can’t do much or get far if you don’t have any. Money is valuable in different ways, even when you don’t see it physically. In today’s society you must have faith in the government and in the banking system that your money is being handled in the proper manner; if not, then you would have to hide all of your money under your mattress or around your house. I have no clue what happens in the banks, or how they take care of your money. I always thought money was simple; you either have some or you don’t—that’s it. However, being introduced to this assignment, the Yap Fei, US gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts now seem similar. You don’t actually see your money being transferred. When you get paid, you aren’t handed cash, you don’t receive a physical check, the money’s all directly transferred to your bank account, and you just have to trust that you got more money.

Edited Paragraph
Money drives our society; without it our accomplishments are minimal. Its value is grand, yet invisible to the naked eye. In today’s society, governmental faith is necessary to assure our money is handled properly and carefully. Without this faith, we would be hiding our money under mattresses. Banks keep their methods of handling money to themselves. Money isn’t as simple as, “rich and poor.” However, the assignment, the Yap Fei, there is a clear similarity between US gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts. We can’t physically see the money being transferred. There are few physical checks or cash involved in payments anymore; money is merely transferred into our accounts while we have to trust it’s actually there.

White Paper -tjjones123

My Proposal

I will be researching and investigating kneeling during the NFL.

White Paper

Trump criticizes NFL

The Essential Content of this Article: In the article, Trump Criticizes N.F.L. for Not Penalizing Anthem Kneeling, by Ken Belson and Kevin Draper, they explain how owners of teams and officials of the NFL decided that they will not be taking any measures to punish players who are deciding to take a knee, or even not come out during the anthem.  Donald Trump, finds this unethical and outrageous that they aren’t doing anything about it. No matter how you look at it just as Donald Trump is stating in his tweets and speeches, “Total disrespect for our country.” The NFL hasn’t changed any rules saying players have to stand for the anthem and chose not to take any actions for those who do.  This is beginning to inrage more people because there are plenty of other ways for them to protest.

What it proves: There are several other people that agree that this form of protest in not an impactful or positive method.  President, Donald Trump, thinks this is a disgrace against the country and changes need to be made immediately to inforce standing for our flag and anthem.

Think Again Before Disrespecting Our Flag

The Essential Content of this Article: In the article, Think Again Before Disrespecting our Flag and Anthem, by Cody Long, he describes the actions people are taking against this country and against our flag which people in previous years never would have thought of doing.  In years before there were rarely people burning flags, never flags laying on the ground, and never EVER someone showing complete disrespect towards our flag. In addition, this author began to explain, sure protest is allowed and everyone has the freedom of speech, however showing disrespect toward our flag and country these people are going against the rights they are exercising.  Lastly, this is one of the only countries that have the freedoms, if they go outside the U.S they can see these dictatorships and see what having no rights and how great America really is.

What it proves: Many people feel that this is more than just a protest and however it is more disrespect towards our nation and to those risking their lives to keep us free and safe.  In addition, it adds that our nation is one of the few countries that offer these freedoms we take for granted.

Behind the Protests

The Essential Content of this Article:  In this article, What’s Really Behind the Backlash to the NFL Kneeling Protests, by Kim Wilcox, it describes the reasoning behind the protests and why the players are taking these measures to address this issue.  In addition, she talks about the proper reasons why someone may take a knee during the anthem to respect a fallen soldier or family member lost at war, but a call to change racial injustice is not deserving of disrespecting our country.  Kneeing out of respect to our nation and a cause is the only time it should be done never as a protests against what we believe in.

What it Proves: It shows reasons why some people might take a knee during the anthem and it also shows and explains why taking a knee for the protest they are taking part in should not disrespect who we are.

Quit Grandstanding with NFL Protests and get back to Football

The Essential Content of this Article: In this article, Quit Grandstanding NFL Protests and get back to Football, by James Robbins, he discuss what these protests are doing to the overall name of the sport.  As he said “Remember when you could enjoy pro football without being lectured on politics?” Less people are watching football because they feel disrespected by those players kneeling and also because every week there is something else.  We used to tune in and watch our favorite team try to win and bring home a super bowl, but now it’s all about politics and what team is disrespecting our nation, and what players are going against the flag.

What it Proves: Without the NFL taking a stance and getting control of this issue before its gets more out of control less people are starting to watch the sport and less supporters less money.

A Marine’s Letter to the NFL

The Essentials Content of the Article: In Col. Jeffery Powers letter to the NFL he explained how he was a fan of the sport growing up, a season pass holder to Yankee Stadium, but he missed 90-91’ season while be stationed at Desert Storm.  He explained a conversation he had with one of the men that died in war about the Giants going to the Super Bowl. When he returned from fighting for this nation, he doesn’t see his teams thanking and honoring him for his service but instead he saw multi-million dollar athletes kneeling during the national anthem.  As a marine, many people said “they will understand it’s for the movement of racial injustice, but they don’t. Many people feel it is not against marines but it goes against everything they are fighting for and this marine explained that marines aren’t making millions of dollar fighting for our country, these athletes are.  Marines don’t play one game a day then get a good break to see their families. Marines don’t play a fun game with friends having a good time.

What it Proves: Marines do feel this is disrespectful towards them and this should be changed.

1) Sentence: “Money seems to have a big role in our society; you can’t do much or get far if you don’t have any.”

Without “you”: Money seems to have a big role in our society; there isn’t much that can be done without it.

Fix: Money plays such a large role in our society that a person can accomplish next to nothing without it.

2) Sentence: Money is valuable in different ways, even when you don’t see it physically.

Without “you”: Money is valuable in different ways, even when it can’t be seen physically.

Fix: Although a physical representation of money may not be present, its value is never questioned.

3) Sentence: In today’s society you must have faith in the government and in the banking system that your money is being handled in the proper manner; if not, then you would have to hide all of your money under your mattress or around your house.”

Without “you”: In today’s society, we must have faith in the government and in the banking system that our money is being handled in the proper manner; if not, we would have to hide all of our money under the mattress or around our houses.

Fix: We place a lot of faith in our government and in our banks; we blindly trust that at the end of the day, our bank account balance is what it claims to be-the number on the screen or slip of paper. If we didn’t place such strong faith in the system, we would have to resort to stockpiling our money in secret stashes in our homes.

4) Sentence: I have no clue what happens in the banks, or how they take care of your money.”

Without “you”: I have no clue what happens in the banks, or how they take care of our money.

Fix: Despite utilizing banks as much as anyone else in our society, I am incredibly uninformed, as many are, as to how the money is handled.

5) Sentence: I always thought money was simple; you either have some or you don’t—that’s it.”

Without “you”: I always thought money was simple; we either have some or we don’t-that’s it.

Fix: Money never seemed that complex; a person is poor or a person is rich.

6) Sentence: However, being introduced to this assignment, the Yap Fei, US gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts now seem similar.”

Fix: In reality, money is far from that simple; the Yap Fei, U.S. gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts share the same abstract nature.

7) Sentence: You don’t actually see your money being transferred.

Without “you”: We don’t actually see our money being transferred.

Fix: No one sees a physical transfer of money; we only see the numbers change.

8) Sentence: When you get paid, you aren’t handed cash, you don’t receive a physical check, the money’s all directly transferred to your bank account, and you just have to trust that you got more money.”

Without “you”: When we get paid, we aren’t handed cash, we don’t receive a physical check, the money is all directly transferred to our bank accounts, and we just have to trust that we got more money.

Fix: The average job no longer hands employees cash or even checks, but instead electronically transfers payment to their accounts.

Revised Paragraph: Money never seemed that complex; a person is poor or a person is rich. In reality, money is far from that simple; the Yap Fei, U.S. gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts share the same abstract nature. No one sees a physical transfer of money; we only see the numbers change. Most jobs no longer hand employees cash or even checks, but instead electronically transfer payment to their accounts. Yet, although a physical representation of money may not be present, its value is never questioned. Despite being incredibly uninformed as to how our money is actually handled, we place a lot of faith in our government and in our banks. We blindly trust that at the end of the day, our bank account balance is what it claims to be-the number on the screen or slip of paper. If we didn’t place such strong faith in the system, we would have to resort to stockpiling our money in secret stashes in our homes.

However, being introduced to this assignment, the Yap Fei, US gold, French francs, Brazilian cruzeros, and debit accounts now seem similar. The transfer of money is not physically, so it is cannot be seen. When someone is paid, they aren’t handed cash,  and don’t receive a physical check, the money’s all directly transferred to their bank account, and trust is needed that the money was transferred properly.

When growing up in a multiracial household you are accepted by both families as soon leave that safety you become an outcast. Multiracial people do not belong anywhere they face discrimination more than anyone race because they are not in the same position as anyone race person.

They may hold feature of one race but the skin color of another because of that they should not be held in a position where they are put in one category.

Being multiracial is seen as the best of both worlds in many people’s eyes as they can experience a culture without the oppression that comes with it. But in reality, multiracial people are born into the world with the idea that they are more privileged than the oppressed race. This is not true, they are experiencing if not more discrimination as they cannot express themselves. They are told they dress wrong or talk too much like one race when they appear to be from another.

The “free heroin for addicts” program in Vancouver is doing everything they can to stop the addicts because of the increasing number of crimes that addicts cause. They are not hesitant to steal, to break into houses, just to retrieve the heroin that controls their lives. These people have a hard time coping with their day to day lives. By providing the drug to the addicts, they will no longer have to be on the streets, doing anything they can to get their drug, which would result in a decrease of crimes on the street. If people continue to overuse it and wind up in hospitals, there is not much the doctors can do when their patient does not have a way to pay for treatment and squirms in bed in need of their daily fix of heroin. It is a waste of the hospitals time to send them there. This program will give people free heroin in the cleanest way possible. Although this may not fix the addiction that these people face, it will fix the city.

Mental health treatment extends out of the boundaries of the school system

Mental health illness is a very tricky subject especially when it comes to determining who has it and who does not. Most people who struggle with a mental health illness will not be diagnosed until it becomes quite severe. In this case of College students, even fewer will seek out help in fear of being different or judgement. So an important question is how can you help someone that doesn’t seek help.

One of the most pressing problems with overseeing College students is their age group. As stated in the publication titled The Best Practices of Medical Health, “Colleges have a complicated relationship with their students. Most students are legal adults and entitled to privacy and autonomy.” While universities respect this many can not oversee the mass of Students and govern what they do. this was simple to do back in maybe middle school or high school with a more personal approach with students but in college it is much more complex and interpersonal.

Second is that mental health services are something serious that requires professional attention and even more in depth treatment. To offer this a campus of ten to forty thousands students is insane. the funding for the university would be through the roof. for example, when you have a severe injury who do you you want to treat you a school nurse or a Doctor. the same goes with having a severe mental illness. University counselors can only do so much; Families of students should seek outside treatment from psychiatric counselors. What the school does offer is an assessment and the try to diagnose the problem then help direct you to more extensive professional help after a period of time. “The 2014 Healthy Minds Study (Eisenberg, 2014) found that 98% of students would be willing to accept someone who received mental health treatment as a close friend, and only 15% felt that receiving mental health treatment was a sign of personal failure.”

Instead of blaming schools we should come up with at tacit to be able to assess students since we already give them the right resources to seek help. we should open our services to students with incentives and let them know its okay to receive help and maybe have some success stories to share as examples. I personally believe this problem is going to continue to be ongoing because of the extent of the fact is we cannot properly treat everyone since most people don’t seem to want to seek help. The point is not to wipe the numbers clean; the point of this is to find a way to properly reach out to students and lower the amount of tragedies to come.
