Definition Argument– Splash305

When in the mind set of an FBI profiler or someone working in the criminal intent unit, there is a need to understand how to separate work life from social life. The person doing this cannot be like a seasoned homicide detective who builds a wall of what they call the `isolation of affect’ between themselves and the horrors they see. To do this job effectively one must be able to laugh and joke around with some child-killer or look at the horrors of some case and casually discuss what had happened to a victim. By trying to visualize and imagine what the victim experienced and try to figure out why the subject did these things to this victim. To be able to do that it really becomes emotionally and physically draining says John Douglas, but it is what has to be done in order to stay sane. As John shared more of his experience with us, he told us about some questions he would ask the prisoners he would visit just to better his knowledge and skills. He would ask questions like: Why did this killer select this victim over that one? And how did they get that child out of that shopping center? Did this suspect follow the press (reports)? Asking these questions helps give a better idea of what was going through the killer’s mind when he chose that specific victim or chose to commit that crime in this specific area.

To know the killer, one must know the victim and the crime scene. When it comes to the victim one must know everything there is to know. For example, how and where the crime took place, what happened verbally, physically, and sexually because without these aspects it is hard to really know who he is; to know the artist you must look at the artwork as John stated. John then goes into detail about his process prior to the interrogation with the killer: Before the interview he has to know the scene, he must look at the crime scene and the crime scene photographs. He also has to look at the preliminary police reports, autopsy photographs and read the autopsy protocol. John has to do an analysis of the victim called victimology, where he tries to ask the question, `Why was this victim the victim of this particular crime?’ Then, armed with all that information, he’ll go in there. Talking with the criminal is a crucial part of investigations, especially when there are multiple suspects. Talking with each one will help narrow down the options. Also with the more verbal communication the more John Douglas can watch the suspect and get a feel for his body language and the answers the suspect gives to the questions he is asked. Body language speaks very loudly to the types of people who study human behavior and criminology.

With different kinds of murderers comes different amounts of victims and different kinds of kills. There are three main categories murderers fall under and what makes each one different. For example, as John puts it in to perspective, a serial killer is a killer who kills three or more victims and there is a cooling-off period in between each of the killings. And the crimes are relatively sophisticated. They’re premeditated to the point the fantasy is there and they are looking to act out the fantasy. The mass murderer is generally one event. All these post office cases and school shootings are mass murders. We say it’s four or more victims are involved in the slaughter. Generally, it ends in suicide by the subject or suicide by cop, where the subject puts himself in the position. The spree killer–Andrew Cunanan, Angel Maturino Resendiz–is generally known to law enforcement and is in a fugitive status and is killing, killing, killing. He continues to talk about how most serial killers are male. People will sometimes say that it is unusual to have black serial killers. That was true up until 1981 with Wayne Williams (child murders in Atlanta). But we’ve had cases since then. Proportionately, by population generally it is the white male, and when he does kill it is much more bizarre, like decapitation. Women usually will kill people close to them. Serial killing is really a male thing, a testosterone kind of a thing. Which is something I found to be really interesting because in a lot of crime shows I have watched, there is a good number of women killing people they don’t know or abducting children and making them their own.

Society’s Definition of Depression

Depression is common around the world today. Depression can mean different things for different people. For example, I view depression as having an off balance of chemicals in your brain. If you look up depression on Merriam Webster website, the definition is “a mood disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty in thinking and concentration, a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal tendencies.” That definition gives you a list of signs and symptoms to be aware of. I believe there are different levels of depression, for example, depression only and then depression combined with mental illness. To me depression is when you are depressed for no reason like just being sad. While at other times you are depressed for a long time but you are perfectly fine. When you start to spiral out of control, you may suffer from depression with mental illness. Everyone will suffer from depression at some point in their life. But, when a person is depressed all the time, it can be a sign of mental illness as they are frequently intertwined. Depression can make you think that you aren’t good enough or that you did something wrong. Society today makes it seem that mental illness isn’t a real problem. Its view is that people who have mental illness or depression need to get over it and get on with their lives. Sadly, depression sometimes leads people to thoughts of taking their own lives. Many kids, teenagers, young adults and elderly people are committing suicide every day because they feel lonely and depressed and are afraid to ask for help from anyone. There needs to be more awareness and acceptance of depression and depression combined with mental illness.

Personally, I have known some people who have taken their lives from dealing with depression or depression combined with mental illness. At one point they were completely fine and then suddenly they aren’t here anymore. It is a terrible thing to think how they got so sad and depressed that they thought that choosing to take their own life was easier than seeking help. Sadly, they think that’s their only option at that moment in their life. They didn’t realize the devastation, hurt and sadness that will be left behind for family and friends; those people who loved them. It hurts because when you know that person you feel terrible because you didn’t realize they were going through such a hard time. The guilt that family and friends have is hard to deal with as you feel as though you let that person down. My favorite quote is “Sometimes the happiest people are the people who are hurting the most.” The most depressed people could be the ones that always make you laugh or smile and they always try to make you feel happy when they aren’t.

As a society we need to be more accepting and to not shame people who struggle with feelings of depression. Also as a society we need to be more accepting and to not shame people who struggle with mental illness. Society is so hard and judgmental against how people feel. From personal experience I have had my friends say that I could talk to them but I don’t because I don’t want to bother them or get judged for not knowing what is wrong. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. Doctors and therapists need to know the symptoms of depression and depression with mental illness to be able to help everyone. They need to experiment with different kinds of medicines and alternative medicines. I think maybe there should be study groups of depressed people. Place those people in situations that make them depressed, study what triggers it and find solutions for those triggers. Then the people in those groups can learn how to cope by putting plans of action in place to get them through the hard times.

The bottom line is that depression and depression with mental illness need to be recognized as true illnesses. This will be difficult but my hope is that once we recognize this, the medical profession can begin to find answers and people can begin to get the help they need. Also, it would be great to find ways to prevent depression from happening just as they are trying ways to prevent cancer from happening. Maybe in the future depression will be nonexistent.

At some point in our life everyone is going to deal with depression after all its human nature. There are many different causes for it, such as traumatic events, physical and mental abuse, bullying, etc. The list goes on and on. In a perfect world, we would all be much nicer to each other. But since this isn’t a perfect world, we all need to learn to treat each other better. After all, the golden rule is treat people the way the way you would want to be treated.

There are many ways to prevent depression. For example, if a person has depression in their family they need to be aware of the signs and symptoms and take measures on how to deal with or treat themselves if they feel they might have depression. Also, if young adult or a child shows signs to a teacher or a person in authority, that person needs to help them. It’s okay to ask someone if they are okay or ask them or if something at home is going on. Young kids might not know that what they are feeling is signs of depression. They might not know what depression is or how to deal with these feelings. So, having someone who recognizes signs of it and mentioning depression, it can open up the lines of communication and they can get the help they need. All it takes is for one person to speak up. So, for a person they look up to helps them they will sure get through it.

Definition Argument- LifeisSublime

“Home of the brave, land of the free.” That’s the motto our country acquired when we broke lose from he British and set up our own society with new laws and morals. The land of the free was a message that spread all over the world, upsetting some countries, but changed the mind of young explores and immigrants to pack everything they owned to come over and share the freedom America advertised. As the story typical goes though, what is advertised isn’t always what you get, and that was a the case of the land of the free. Nothing here is free, not even help.

As a country with a government and people to serve, a healthcare system was put in place to help people obtain medication, doctor visits, and anything else they needed to live a health lifestyle. America installed a healthcare system that they claim is the best, with the most advance technology and the best treatment for clients. The catch with that is, it’s not free. Nothing is really free, but when you can’t afford basic medication to help the cold you have subside just so you can go to work, there tends to be an issue. The healthcare system in America as a logo of helping the people, but the reality of it is the need for wealth. Looking behind the curtain, you can clearly see the corruptness that comes from money, but even worse, exploiting the people that can’t go anywhere else but the bottom of their pockets for the help they desperately need.

When I was about 12 years old I was driving home with my parents and siblings from staying the weekend at my grandparents. We were on the parkway stopped at a red light listening to music, singing along to the lyrics. Right and the light was about to change, a red car sped directly across the intersection T-boning another car. Both of them spinning out of control, went up a curb, and didn’t stop until they hit the trees on the other side. I saw the whole thing, but what I remember from that day is far more chilling then just the sound of metal on metal. My father jumped out of the car and ran over to the lady in the red car. He yanked her car door off, making sure she was okay as a man did the same for the lady in the other car. When he opened the door the woman was crying and repeating the words, “I can’t go to the hospital, please don’t take me to the hospital, I can’t afford health insurance.” Those words stuck with me as the lady cried them out over and over again, making them more meaningful when the ambulance arrived on scene. This woman who was just in a car accident wasn’t concern with her well-being, but more about the fact that she couldn’t afford medical attention, hospitalization, and all the money that gets dished out to recover.

The bottom line is that our freedom isn’t free if that means that everyday people can’t afford to go to the doctor, to get that medication, to get that procedure done. People can’t afford to live because our government thrives on the profit rather than the fact of saving lives. Healthcare shouldn’t be an option but an olive branch the government should be extending to their people that they promised to serve. Make the motto of America not just a motto but a fact, because right now people are dying because of dollar signs and that alone is sickening.

Definition Argument—TheAdmiral

On August 26, 2016, the announcer at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, California came over the loudspeaker, as before every game, and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, please rise and remove your hats for the singing of our national anthem.” At that moment, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick dropped down to one knee and shocked the entire nation. From high school sporting events to the Olympic games, from ballparks around the country, “The Star-Spangled Banner” is a tradition Americans adopted at the commencement of great sporting events that serves as the pride of our great nation. What began as a simple gesture of patriotism grew into one of the greatest traditions at America’s beloved sporting venues. To some Americans, the rendition of the national anthem brings a tear to the eye and a chill to the spine. But, for others, “The Star-Spangled Banner” represents the hypocrisy of a nation divided on the idea all not Americans have equal rights in “the land of the free”. (Key)

After the NFL football game on the August 26, 2016, Colin Kaepernick released a statement,

“I am not going to stand up and show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football, and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder”.

Many Americans may not agree with Kaepernick’s statements, but they still hold some truth. In some parts of the United States, police brutality is still a serious problem, especially with the minorities such as black Americans. Police officers continue to outrage a nation with multiple incidences of unnecessary extreme acts of violence towards individuals of color.

This deep-seeded feud between black Americans and law enforcement roots itself in the race riots during the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s. The Civil Right movement in the 1960s caused America to ponder the question, “Are all Americans treated equally?” Police brutality ravaged the lives of black Americans across the nation which cause race riots in major US cities and on college campuses.  While some Americans resorted to violence, others peacefully attempted to display their distaste for the unequal rights with sit ins. Unfortunately, public demonstrations of racial inequalities resulted in violence and police brutality regardless of how they began (Anderson). As a nation, the United Stated made great strides to protect the rights of all Americans; however, many black Americans feel that police brutality is still thriving in our great nation similar to the race riots of the sixties.

Police brutality during the civil rights movement resulted in violent and public actions toward black Americans by public servants paid to uphold the law. While police officers vowed to serve and protect society, many Americans questioned who exactly the police protected and felt black Americans remained vulnerable in a nation progressing toward equality. Police continued to harass black Americans even while they participated in peaceful protests. On February 1, 1960, the Greensboro 4 staged their first “sit in” at the Woolworth’s because they were permitted to buy merchandise at the store; however, they were not allowed to simply sit and buy a cup of coffee at the lunch counter. Their first meeting ended with a prayer, but after their peaceful protest grew, it turned into violent acts of police brutality toward the black citizens.  (Anderson).

Some cases of violence cause extreme outrage and rioting, like the case of Philando Castile, a black American who was pulled over for a faulty headlight. When the police officer pulled Castile over, Castile explained to the office that he had a firearm in his car and was also licensed to carry. The officer screams “Do not reach for it! Do not reach for it!” The dash camera from the police cruiser shows the officer firing shot into the driver side window of Castile’s vehicle. While the officer shot and killed Castile, he was acquitted of all charges. Castile’s girlfriend, an eye witness to the violent and senseless murder, recorded and broadcasted the incident live on Facebook for the world to see.

Kaepernick’s protest gained major attention, and was the topic of all major sports, and news networks across America. Since then, the protests grew in popularity among NFL players while spreading to the collegiate and high school levels. But, has Kaepernick’s  meaning of the protest been lost along the way? NFL players, like Kaepernick state that they kneel in protest of  police brutality, which is fine if that is their sole purpose. When you see so many players in the NFL just following along in others footsteps and kneeling, it begs the question of do they really know what or why they are protesting? Even future Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy stated in an interview “But just don’t do it (kneel) because other people are doing it. Don’t just do it because you think it’s going to make a statement.”

If Kaepernick was really trying to make a statement about police brutality, though possibly effective, this was the wrong time to do it. Like I previously stated, the National Anthem made its first appearance at the sixth game of the World Series in 1918 to honor all of the service men who fought overseas in the Great War, and that had made the ultimate sacrifice for the country they love so dearly. Military supporters, and military families across America understand the origin of the Anthem, and that is why a many Americans were so outraged.

Lee Greenwood’s song, “Proud to be an American,” is a great example that shows the love most have for this great country.  In the third stanza of his song, Greenwood states “, and I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free, and I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.”  His is statement is truly what being an American is all about. As an American, I love this great nation, because it is the land of opportunity. Not everyone may always agree with everything that is done, such as police brutality, but that does not mean that I do not love the nation that I call my home, and it does not mean that  Americans should take a knee for the things that we do not stand for.

Definition Argument– todayistheday

It’s a very unnatural occurrence when the prey becomes the predator. The hunter becoming the hunted, the victim stalking the killer. It crams individuals into a category they don’t fit into, they are forced to adjust or else they die. Orcas, also known as killer whales, are considered to be one of the most powerful predators in our ocean. Orcas stick together in pods, consisting of up to 40 killer whales.  They communicate with each other when prey is spotted, detecting the prey with echolocation, determining the size and location. Depending on the prey, they deploy intelligent designs of tactic based on species, their strategy is effective and deadly. With razor sharp teeth and dozens of killer whales, the odds are in the orcas favor.

Predators in an ecological sense are defined as being larger than their prey and killing their prey.  Predators and prey are a part of the same environment and evolve together.  The predator evolves to kill the prey; meanwhile the prey evolves to avoid being killed by the predator. Both are key to each other for survival. The categorizing of predator and prey relationships is defined by consumption, who is eating who.

Predators rise to the top of the food chain because of certain skills or characteristics they maintain.  Most predators are stealthy, they approach an attack with careful precision.  Predators have dominating physical features, their size is typically larger than their prey along with their sense of sight, smell, and taste that must be greater than their prey.

But outside of the animal kingdom, predators are still lurking in the shadows waiting for the right moment to pounce on unsuspecting prey. In society we categorize pedophiles as child predators.  They are larger individuals waiting to feed off a child’s innocence, killing their purity. We can see government as a dangerous predator with all the power.  The citizens are the pawns, individuals are so easy to sweep away and stomp out.  Predators are killers, feeding off the prey.

When a pedophile is arrested and locked away in prison they are no longer a predator.  They are confined behind concrete walls and shackled; they are cast away from their community.  They were caught and imprisoned; the predator then becomes the prey.  The predator than becomes the prison guards or the criminal justice system or their fellow inmates.  The pedophile’s fate is determined by the criminal justice system that sends him to prison.  The pedophile’s fellow inmates could have a distaste for perverts and beat him until he dies; he came the prey.

So, when orcas are captured and locked within concrete enclosures they are no longer the predator.  They’re ripped away from their food chain and placed in an entirely different environment.  Once at the top of the food chain, they plummeted to the bottom.  Their fate lies in the hands of SeaWorld.  They rely on their captures for their survival.

But SeaWorld doesn’t become the predator.  SeaWorld is something different entirely.  SeaWorld wouldn’t benefit from killing their prey. SeaWorld needs to feed off their prey and reap the benefits for as long as possible.  SeaWorld is a parasite.

Parasites leech onto their host, either clinging to the body or digging their way inside. They feed off their host, stealing from them.  Parasites harm their hosts, or prey, but rarely kill them.  And if they do kill them it wasn’t intentional. They can cause sickness in their hosts that can ultimately lead to their death.  Tapeworms, for example, live within the intestines of their host.  They feed off the partially digested food, robbing the host of that nutrients. Ticks dig their heads into their host and stuff themselves full of blood.

The Toxoplasma gondii, also known as the mind control bug, infects, most commonly, rodents.  It infiltrates the brain, erasing the fear of cats from the rodent’s brain.  This then causes the rodent to be captured and killed by the cat.  Toxoplasma godnii can also infect humans.  In severe cases, brain and organ damage occur.

SeaWorld leeches onto the orcas and refuses to let go.  True to parasite nature they cling onto their hosts until they, themselves, are exterminated or until their host dies.  SeaWorld, the ultimate parasite, opts for the latter. They ignore any suggestions of seaside sanctuaries where the orcas can live free.  Because without their host, they wouldn’t survive.

Like Toxoplasma, SeaWorld, slithers into the host’s brain and takes control.  It overrides the hosts natural instincts, instead, they insist on unnatural performances.

Parasites can cause several alarming symptoms in their host.  They can cause abdominal pain, fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dysentery and weight loss.   Parasite’s are detrimental in the health of their host.

Orcas suffer from poor dental health from chewing on cement walls and metal gates.  Closed quarters lead to fighting amoung the orcas , which can cause raking (teeth on skin) marks.  They offer suffer from poor eyesight, due to increased light sensitivity. Orcas suffer greatly as the parasite continues to gnaw on their cash “cow”.

SeaWorld digs into the orcas, draining them of any nutrients they can.  The nutrients for SeaWorld would be money.  They push the orcas to perform tricks for audience members. They even force conception so that more baby orcas can be apart of the SeaWorld cult. SeaWorld’s best interest is to keep the orcas alive so that they can benefit from them.  They showcase the orcas and open their parks so that people can witness the blood sucking frenzy disguised as a family friendly marine park.

There is a player we didn’t factor into the game; the audience. The killer whales once predators now the prey. SeaWorld, a monstrous company, is the parasite feeding off the prey.  When factoring in the new addition the roles change slightly.  The orcas, stay prey to SeaWorld, also become bait to us.  We see happy faces on SeaWorld commercials has Shamu swims joyful laps.  We watch as children hug fluffy Shamu’s to their chests, holding it close to their heart.  That is when they we bite down onto the brillantly appealing bait.  We are hooked.  Their lure is embedded into our mouth, pulling us closer toward their open greedy gates, like open arms waiting for an embrace. We, the audience, buy tickets to walk through the gates of the park.  Wonder filled eyes gaze at tanks filled with animals more majestic than we could ever dream of. We clap, cheer and laugh as we watch the orcas flip out of the water and wave their fins.

One thing stays the same, SeaWorld.  SeaWorld continues to be the parasite feeding off any entertainment provided from their hosts and from the audiences gullibleness. They rely off of the orcas helplessness and the audience’s blindness. Without the orcas, there is no audience, and vice versa.  Seaworld chomps down onto any vulnerable flesh, and they suck, until their pockets stuff themselves with crisp dollar bills.

Definition Argument – Princess45

As we know, Donald Trump has noticeably become the talk of the town when it comes to  him saying and doing whatever he wants to and with whatever he wants, especially his twitter rants, but does he truly violate the First Amendment? Under the First Amendment, it protects individual’s rights to free speech, religion, press, assembly,  and the right to petition the government. So, was Donald Trump expressing his First Amendment when he tweeted calling the kneeling NFL player a “Son of a bitch”? Disappointingly the answer is yes. In a case called Garcetti v. Ceballos, the Supreme Court held that when public employees are not speaking as citizens — but instead in their official public capacities — the First Amendment does not protect anyone from being disciplined for their speech. (Wehle). But, it is important that when Trump tweets, he tweets as president, and he would not get the same first amendment protections as a private citizen would if their constitutionality were ever tested in a court of law. This is because he is not speaking as a private citizen he is speaking as a government official and not releasing “official statements”.

The question now is, should Donald Trump be disciplined for his speech? If I’m the one being asked I would say, yes, he should. He is the President of the United States and he should act as that at all times, which he does not. I, in my 19 years on this earth, despite not being very long, have never seen a President, or someone who is supposed to be the face, and example of our country act as the way Trump has. Now, why has no one stood up for this to be put into action? In fact, someone has and it has been put into action, Trump has actually found himself in a First Amendment violation. (Timm). Trump tweeted that NBC’s broadcasting license “must be challenged” and potentially “revoked,” based on a series of NBC news stories that embarrassed him. He also suggested the NFL’s tax status should be changed and raised if the NFL continues to allow its players to peacefully protest police brutality by kneeling during the National Anthem. (Timm). Trump is threatening NBC and/or the NFL not as a private citizen, but as the President of the United States, from his Twitter account, which the White House has previously acknowledged is a vessel for releasing “official statements”.

Deliberately, Donald Trump is very quick to tweet about all of the “fake news”, “Sons of bitches” and all of the things that could be viewed opposing or negatively affect him, yet he and his defenders simultaneously express outrage when liberal activists oppose speakers they believe publicly disrespect minorities. (Post). Attorney General Jeff Sessions, for example, proclaimed at Georgetown University on Tuesday: “Protesters are now routinely shutting down speeches and debates across the country in an effort to silence voices that insufficiently conform with their views.” (Post). This is a very accurate representation of what Trump is doing, vise versa, and not with private organizations. These people are expressing their first amendment while acting on others, however the outcomes of these situations will be for sure different, possibly completely opposite.

Continuously, Trump is making it obnoxiously clear that those who oppose him will be publicly punished.  “A recent example is his call for the firing of ESPN anchor Jemele Hill, who had the temerity to call Trump out as a “white supremacist” and a “bigot.” How do the constitutional standards of the First Amendment apply to such behavior on the president’s part?” (Post) The president has also engaged in a verbal campaign designed to suppress speech that offends him. Trumps angered dedication is clearly directed at core political speech protesting law enforcement’s unfair treatment of minorities. Trump’s allies have already begun organizing boycotts (for example, a “Turn off the NFL” campaign) to give teeth to the president’s intemperate attacks. (Post) There is no indication that he is invoking the law enforcement apparatus of the federal government to harass or sanction NFL players who are taking a knee.(Post). He is just making sure to publicly sanction those who are not truly punished in a court of law and anything, and/or anyone who has views other than his own. “Trump’s attacks on the political speech of private citizens are inconsistent with the requirements of his office. It is striking that Trump’s insistent and recurring political instinct is to appeal to his base by constructing enemies—the press, Jemele Hill and now football players who kneel during the national anthem. Enemies are by definition excluded from the American body politic. They are excommunicated from “We the people.” Trump can disagree with his opponents, but he must always convey respect for their right to dissent. By casting them out as enemies, he undermines the hard-earned and necessary integrity of “We the people.”” (Post)

Our president has numerously proved that he is unqualified to be president. He cannot imagine a country where people can agree to disagree, compromise, or freely express the first amendment. Trump may have not actually acted on these, but he is threatening these two organizations for expressing their rights to the first amendment, by trying to sensor their speech, threatening to penalize them for freely expressing what these organizations stand for.  If trump were to actually revoke the licenses of these companies because of freely expressing of the first amendment, a case may still be actionable. Donald Trump does have his own first amendment rights as president to opine about things he does and doesn’t like, but still as a government official, those rights are limited. As stated before, when Trump speaks, the government technically speaks, so he can continue to speak negatively and unprofessionally, yet there may inevitably be judicially enforceable limitations.

0.03– The current image is showing the outside of a grey two level house. From this image I can not make out if the house belongs to the lady in the previous image. The house looks up to date on the outside, nice landscaping, the house also has a bright red front door and a bright red and white sold sign in the front yard of the house. Indicating that the house has been sold to someone.

0.04/ 0.05 also 0.06 Shows the same exact image focusing on the house. Slowly zooming into the house approaching to the next scene.

0.07– The same African American women is now at a laundry mat. She has a scrambled look on her face. She is standing in front of a row a dryers filled with clothes, facing a the folding tables. On the table is a laundry bin filled with clothes were her cell phone sits on top, a notebook and pin, clean clothes and laundry detergent.

0.08– The women picks up her pin to write in her notebook. She is looking frantically at her cellphone to record/ write down what she is seeing on the cellphone. A man with a hand full of clothes passes behind her.

0.09– The image is showing the blue laundry bin filled with orange folded towels. The women’s cellphone sits on top of the towels, in a position that the women can view clearly. It looks as if an informational video with a young lady sitting at a desk is playing on the cellphone, that the lady is viewing while doing her laundry.

0.10– Now the lady is at a gym, working out on a exercise bike. She has on workout clothes and sneakers. She is also talking on her cell phone, with she other hand she is balancing on the bike. The film makers added this scene to show that she can juggle many things a one time.

0.11/ 0.12– The woman pause as if she received news over her phone call. Slowly the image shows that it was good news. Out of excitement she cheers, laughs and smiles. She is still seated on the exercise bike and still holding her cell phone to he ear.

0.13– A African American man working out on the treadmill behind her starts to stare at her with a very questioned look on his face.

0.14/ 0.15– Is showing a chart titles “The House List.” The chat is showing pictures of five different houses at the top of the chart along with the house names. The chart has different categories such as, overall rating, front yard, garden area/ backyard and walkable at amenities. Along side each category and under each house in the row are small blue stars ranging from 1 to 4 stars. Along side the overall rating category are circle stickers under each house in the row. The woman is currently placing an orange sticker under the fourth house in the row.

0.16– The woman is now standing along a street with her back facing the street with another house on it. I’m imagining that she is standing in front of a house that is on her list of houses because she is holding a clipboard and a pin as if she is checking something on the list off. She is wearing casual clothing and she has a satisfied look on her face.

0.17/ 0.18–  This image is showing the woman flushing the toilet in two different houses on a split screen. I came to the conclusion that it was two different houses because the bathroom floors are different and the toilets are shaped different also the women is standing at a different angle.

0.19– Now the screen has split into 8 different small images of bathroom toilets as the women flushes each one by one. Each bathroom floor is different.

0.20– Now the screen has split into 15 different small images of bathroom toilets. Now the women is flushing all the toilets at the same time. All the bathroom floors remain different.

0.21– The woman is standing in the middle of an empty house with no furniture she is still holding her clip board possibly with her “The House List.” To the left of the women is a younger lady dressed in a suit skirt holding a folder with her hand in motion as if she is asking the women “how do you like it?” I concluded that is a realtor. I have also concluded that they just finished touring the house. As I look closer it appears to me that this is the same house from the beginning clips. She is standing in  the same spot that shows the same back door and same half of the kitchen. This image also shows us the bright red door on the house from a previous clip but now the door is open and she is inside the house and not standing on the street on the house. She looks satisfied with her final decision.

0.22– The realtor continues with her hand motion and women looking for the house nods her head and smiles.

0.23/ 0.24–  The image is now of the women slowly sitting down on the same couch from the beginning of the Ad with her dog and lap top.

0.25, 0.27–  The clip is still showing the women sitting on the couch with her dog and laptop but she looks happier and has more expression on her face of relief.

0.28, 0.31– Ad logo “Ace Your Retirement”

:00- :04         There is three boys and a man, possibly their father, dancing inside of a home. It looks like their in the dining room. The front door is open and the weather is nice out. So I’m assuming that they may have been outside earlier this day. and now they’re inside. Or maybe they’re about to leave out in a few. They’re all wearing sweat pants, so they probably just got done playing a sport or probably about to go out to play. The father is showing the youngest boy how to do a certain dance. While the two oldest are dancing around with each other.

:05-:06       There is now a game console on the TV stand. So maybe they just got done playing a video game or about to start playing. The father kicks his leg up while pointing at the youngest son as if he’s trying to show him a certain that he’s amazed by how he is dancing. The father and his kids are clearly excited and enjoying their time dancing together.

:07-:10         The youngest son in the front and his father are having a dance battle, while the two oldest boys are still dancing together. The father turn is now over, so it’s the youngest son turn to dance.

:11-:16          The youngest son is still dancing against his father. While the dad is covering his mouth showing the son that his dance moves are hot!

:17-:21        The words “it only takes a moment to make a moment” appears on the screen. As the words pop up, they are all enjoying a good laugh in the background.

:22          All of the boys and their father continues to dance and laugh together and the dad is staring at them with a loving look.

:23-:30       The words “Take time out to be a dad” appears on the screen.

Without music- The video’s purpose was made perfectly without the need of music. They showed a father having a good time spending quality time with his children. The point of showing other dads what it is like to spend time out with their children was understood successfully with or without music. The setting and the background that this scene was shot gave enough detail to the audience so that they could tell what the video’s about even without sound.

0:01- The first visual rhetoric simply starts off by a man in bed. Next he’s in bed with his eyes closed so it gives me an impression that he’s sleeping.

0:02- He appears to be up but simultaneously try’s to play sleep and wants to suddenly dash out of the home while everyone is sleeping. From the looks of the video the kid in this visual rhetoric appears to look like an young adult I would probably say that he is white or Italian or something of that nature. You can tell that he’s full layered and that can be fully weird for viewer’s because you usually don’t sleep in your bed with outside clothing items on.

-0:03 – By the end of the 3rd second, it’s really obvious that the lights are all wrong for sleeping. The light across the pillow is much brighter than most people would choose for bedtime. We don’t know what that means yet, but as viewers we do wonder what might be going on. Bright light from somewhere below his feet is casting deep shadows on his face from the blanket. Even his eyebrows are casting shadows onto his forehead. So strong light in the room might make it hard for anyone to fall asleep. Again. Perhaps he’s faking sleep. But, if so, he’s not a good liar. Turning off the lights would have been more convincing. One more thing. He doesn’t look like an actor. He looks like a kid from school who might be an amateur, not a made-up professional. We’re not sure what that means, but we do notice it.

0:04- He immediately jumps out of bed maybe he was having a terrible dream that it caused him to be scared.  Could he possibly have spilled something ? Or maybe he as others once waking up hes just utterly confused.. Also as he just woke up he might be a christian and the first thing some do is wake up and read the bible for thinking God for another day.Or maybe he was drinking about water that made him have to pee while he was asleep. Or the guy in the video may be in school and his alarm goes off which is supposed to wake him up.

0:05 – Hes leaning over his bed as if hes looking for something possibly his cell phone

0:06-  He immediately grabs his cell phone ! He may have something planned or maybe hes late for school!

0:07- He receives a text saying “where are you?” he might have a meeting set up ? or his friends might be worried that hes late for school and they have something planned in class like an assignment or big test or quiz .

0:08 -0:09 – He responds saying “i’m on my way ”  which implies to me whoever hes texting is pretty concerned with the well-being of him. With a look of almost being worried as if hes seen a ghost.

0:10- He abruptly gets up in a sort of rush and panic !

0:11-0:12- He heads into the kitchen in a kind of fast paste motion as if hes in some sort of trouble

0:13- On this second It looks to me as his mother calls him back in the house while hes reaching for the door. Maybe the mother instinct kicked in as she watched her son walk out the door as it looks late outside.

0:14 Next his mom must of asked him where he was going at this time of the night which it appears to be very dark, maybe telling her son that she cooked dinner and made him a plate which might be in the microwave by now.

0:15- She has a look in her eyes that she doesn’t want her son going out because of how late it is.

0:16-18- He then gets out the house after he rushes his mom that he has somewhere important to be.

0:19- He immediately jumps in the car and slams the door

0:20-0:22- Hes in his car driving which appears to be on a long dark road, He seems as though hes impatient and focused on the road.

0:23- He suddenly takes his eyes off the road checking his cell phone in quickness and agony. Maybe the same person who texted him when he was awakened in sleep wants to know again where hes at?

0:24- As he appeared to look down at his phone he suddenly looks back up to the road maybe he swerved in the other lane and their is a car approaching in the same direction as him. Or maybe an animal such as a deer jumps out in the middle of the road and almost hits his car.

0:25-0:26- He puts his arm up as he abruptly swerves on the other side of the road as a car is approaching him , hes scared and panicking and maybe thinking of life or death situations because of his texting and driving actions.

0:27-0:29- With both hands on the wheel hes trying to stay calm and focused on keeping the car leveled and to make sure he doesn’t crash into anything. His level of trying to gain control of the car again plays a huge part considering its his fault why hes in the predicament hes in now.

0:30- He gets control of the wheel and comes back to his senses. His eyes are as if he has seen a ghost receiving a text saying “dude hurry up”. A bright light appears as if it can be another cars high-beams or as if its a slight vision telling him what to do.
