  1. -Focus your attention on a short thesis
-There is a grade please category to check off when posting
    -You may need feedback
    -A cause yields an effect
-A cause can yield a whole bunch of effects
-There might be multiple causes for a single effect
-You have to break the a link in the cause and effect chain to prevent more effects
-You still have to identify in what the conditions are of the cause and how likely they will cause an effect
    -X may cause Y and Z
-Do not add irrelevant information to your article
    -X causes Y which causes Z
-Be careful when short handing your causes
-You can base a causal argument on X does not cause Y

  2. -We should have developed our official thesis by now.
-If you want a grade, put your assignment in the “Grade Please” category.
-Sometimes, one cause leads to one effect.
-Sometimes, one cause leads to many effects.
-Sometimes, many causes lead to one effect.
-Sometimes, many causes lead to many effects.
-Specific causes and effects are very circumstantial.
-Sometimes, X can cause Y which can cause Z. (Single cause with several effects)
-This is called a causal chain.

  3. -If you would like a grade on something have posted to the blog, it is recommended to check off the grade please category when posting. But there is a chance the work posted won’t get a garde, it might be offered to rewrite what was posted or maybe request for feedback first.
-Talking about the next argument to write, cause and effect. There can be many effects that come from one cause and many causes that can come from one effect.
    – Don’t mix up you cause and effects

  4. Cause and effect
    X -> Y
    or
    X -> YYYYY
One cause can yield one or multiple effects.
The effects can then change to more causes and create a long causal chain.
    Avoid irrelevancies.
Several causes can yield one effect
A cause can also not yield the intended effect.

    – Single cause with a single effect (X causes Y)

    – Several causes for a single effect (Both X and Y cause Z)

    – XYZ cause and effect
    – Single Cause with a Single Effect (X causes Y)
    – Single Cause with Several Effects (X causes Y and Z)
    – Several Causes for a Single Effect (Both X and Y cause Z)

  9. Cause and effect. Cause always leads to effect; it could include multiple effects. And vice versa where multiple causes could lead to single effect. There could also be a chain of causial effect.

We need analyze the conditions of a cause and the effects of it. It could also mean we are trying to create a cause for effect, but we may not get that effect from a certain cause.

There are several types of causes, immediate, precipitating cause, contributing cause, and others that can effect the time taken to reach our effect

A real thesis for your research paper should be done.

There is a category called “Grade Please”, by clicking this category you would be asking for a grade by davidbdale. He might ask you to revise it first. Make sure you feel confident with it before adding it into this category.
Ask for grades if you want them.

One cause can lead to many possible effects. Many cause can also lead to one effect.
The chain continues; the effects become causes creating new effects.
Avoid the argument of the fact that it’s immoral and wrong, go for facts that can be challenged.
My paper: the cause and effect of people not having healthcare (it touched on immorality, but focuses more on the effect of people not being able to afford healthcare), more people sick, more people dying, unhealthy conditions for the public…
My argument would be a single cause with several effects.
Be careful not to shorthand your cause; ex lack of dad=new gang members, some people can have an influential uncle in their lives, the lack of a father doesn’t mean joining a gang. To fix that; a person might join a gang if they don’t have a influential male figure in their lives, not limited to a father.
Don’t mix up your causals with the effect.
Causation Fallacy: Cause does not cause the Effect, look at how the proofs are presented and discredit them when they don’t make sense, discredit the methodology

On the Causal Argument Assignment page (A09), you can request assistance with this type of argument.
In class exercise is due before class on Wednesday

  12. Need a thesis by now, focus on short
    New grade please caterogy
Prof can override and give feedback
    cause yields effect
doesn’t have to be just one effect
can also be multiple causes for one effect
    Class activity
Single Cause with a Single Effect (X causes Y)
Single Cause with Several Effects (X causes Y and Z)
Several Causes for a Single Effect (Both X and Y cause Z)
    A Causal Chain (X causes Y, which causes Z)

    Causal argument
    1)cause leads to effect
    2) cause yields multiple effects
    3)causal chains
Single cause with single effect “x causes y”
Ex: Facebook can cost us our jobs” under what conditions of the cause and how likely will the effect occur.
Single cause with several effects “x causes y and z”
Ex: we are the causalities of the war on drugs “
    Several causes “x and y causes z”
    Ex: why there are gangs
Causal chain “x causes y, which causes z”
Ex: “failure to prosecute rape causes rape” rape victim reports rape to campus police and regular police, regular police give it to campus police, keeps things quiet, failure to prosecute, rapist stays on campus, more rapes, widespread news of coverup, lack of deterrent
Causation fallacy “x does not cause y”
Ex: “violent games don’t lead to violent behavior “
Exception to the rule doesn’t prove anything, you need to produce strong fallacy by giving strong discredit to opposing view
In class excercise due before class Wed
Causation basics: immediate cause, remote cause, precipitating ( sudden change allows for underlying cause) and contributing cause
    Caution
    Correlation isn’t causation
Ex:breakfast then lunch but breakfast doesn’t cause lunch. Two things can happen without them being causation
    Annie does well in school
Bring lunch, parents are smart, gets rewarded for good grades, doesn’t watch tv and born after full nine month gestation
Strongest: full nine months bc of strong evidence

  14. GM morning of 11/6/17 update setting on website to “grade please” if it matters to you. Start to do rewrites as necessary. Semester is coming to an end an it’s still time to redo and fix up assignments for research paper. In Class Exercise on my own topic & thesis by making 5 brief casual arguments from research 1. How can we prevent gun violence ?2. Will banning guns stop? 3. Will voting on gun restrictness reduce the use of guns 4.Why should one have to lose family members to acts of violence?

How Can We Prevent Gun Violence 2. Losing Loved Ones 3. Should It Be A Background Check When Getting A Gun 4.Gun Violence Is One Of The highest leading causes to death 5. Do we need guns in our environment on a daily basis
